There is about to be a major shake-up in the Enchanted Forest.  Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) are two of the major characters that won’t be returning to the hit show for season 7.  Jennifer Morison was the first cast member to announce she would not be returning. While it is likely that Morrison, Goodwin, Dallas and Jared S. Gilmore (Henry) are leaving the show because their contracts are up, why have fan favorites Emilie de Ravin (Belle) and  Rebecca Mader (Zelena)  been given the ax?  Both actresses made it clear that it was not their choice to leave the show.

de Raven said via Instagram  that she would “have loved to continue exploring Belle’s journey,” but that  “the show has decided to move in a different creative direction.”

Mader took to Instagram as well saying, “A lot of you have been asking if I will be joining everyone in Season 7, so I wanted to let you know personally that unfortunately, I am not. This wasn’t my choice but a creative decision of the shows that I totally respect and understand.

Lana Parrilla (Regina/Evil Queen), Robert Carlyle (Gold/Rumplestiltskin) and Colin O’Donoghue as Killian/Hook) will be staying in Storybrook. The characters will be the focus of darker plot twists.
Joining the holdovers will be The Walking Dead‘s Andrew J. West, playing the grown-up version of Henry Mills. Henry’s daughter arrives and she has a book fairy tales just like her dad did when he came to town.  She introduces herself to Henry, who insists he doesn’t have a daughter. “Yeah, you do,” she says. “C’mon, your family needs you.”
Creators/executive producers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz say the decision to go darker has been planned for a”very long time..”  Their commitment to fairytales and Disney, however, remains the same.
Stay tuned for more updates on Once Upon A Time Season 7.
